Klungkung/Kerta Gosa - Besakih - Selat
- Tenganan - Candidasa - Goa Lawah.
Passing through tropical vegetation
and arriving at Klungkung we visit
the historic justice hall Kerta
Gosa, where past judges have spoken
law on behalf of the Balinese kingdoms.
The hall is lavishly decorated with
Balinese arts, displaying the rules'
view of justice. The journey continues
to Bali's mother temple Besakih.
With its several towering roofs
it is the largest Dharma - Hindu
temple of the island, built into
the slopes of Mount Agung, the holiest
and highest volcano. The beautiful
rice terraces at the Selat we proceed
to Tenganan, one of the "Bali
Aga" villages. Aga means "to
discover" and Tenganan is assumed
to be the very first human settlement
on Bali. Descending to Candidasa
and crossing the surrounding landscape
of this famous fishermen village,
the coastal road leads to Goa Lawah
(Bat Cave). Here we visit the small
temple and its cave where over the
thousand bats dwell. Almost daily,
religious activities at the cave's
entrance are held, back to your
hotel in the afternoon.
